Streatham Redskins Season Roundup

The last few weeks of the 15/16 season have been an absolute roller coaster for the management, players and fans of the Streatham Redskins, with some incredible highs and some miserable lows for the team. Suffice is to say that Chelmsford Chieftains continue to dominate the league.  Streatham did play some superb ice hockey, particularly memorably against Invicta Dynamos in the Cup semi-final and against Oxford City Stars in the quarter finals of the play-offs.

Illness, injury and some inconsistency led to mixed fortunes, but when the boys were at full strength they challenged those at the very top.  Streatham finished fifth in the league this season, and fought on to play rivals Chelmsford in the Cup Final after an epic victory in the semi-final at Invicta.

Recently it was revealed that the team would be dropping the ‘Redskins’ moniker,  swiftly followed by news that long-term player, junior coach, fans favourite and ProHockey News journalist, Dave Carr is retiring from the game.  Thankfully he plans to stay around in some capacity.

Streatham Ice Hockey Club would like to thank local residents for their wonderful support during the last few months, when the team was thrilled to be skating out in front of packed crowds.  The noise the fans made was huge at times, and we hope that you will all be there cheering loudly from the beginning of the new season in September.  We may have a new name, but rest assured it will be business as usual when we return for 16/17.
