Herne Hill Harriers SEAA results
Saturday 18th January was day one of the South of England Athletics Association (SEAA) Indoor Championships at Lee Valley. Almost upon arrival Ade Adeniran won his U15B 60m race in 8.77s which turned out to be a gold medal winning performance. Adam Ssali ran the U17M 60mH, and finished 2nd in his heat before winning a bronze medal in the Final with a time of 8.44s.
Ed Olsen and Feysel Nadew ran the U17M 800m heats, Ed winning in 2:03.78, Feysel went in a really competitive 2nd heat which say him win in 2:02.57 which was the fastest qualifying time of all three heats.
Olivia Hines ran a new personal best in the U17W heats performing admirably against older girls. Saskia Millard romped home in a New CPB time of 2:15.19 in the U15G 800m finals some 4s inside the previous record. Maddie Shaw was determined to get a medal and for a while seemed out of it but with true grit and determination managed to pip another finalist for the bronze in 2:25.23.
Sunday 19th January was day two of the South of England Athletics Association Indoor Championships: In the senior women’s race Katie Snowden ran a smooth 1500m totally unchallenged in a time of 4:29.58 In the U17W 1500m, Katie established a massive lead with other athletes strung out some 30m or 40m apart none able to challenge Katie or each other. Ed Olsen in the U17M 1500m gave a master display of middle distance running, winning the gold having led from the start. Ed extended his lead after the 3rd lap by which time he had the race sewn up finishing in a time of 4:10.21 with an amazing final lap. Training partners Billy Black finished with a silver medal in a time of 4:21.18 and Nathan Bekele in 5th with a time of 4:39.11. In the U17W 1500m Skye O’Shaughnessy landed a bronze medal in 5:14.64. Eloise O’Shaughnessy took about 2 laps before shaking off the competition in the U15G 1500m final . She and her training partner Zoe Tompkins managed a one-two finish. Eloise even managed to step up a gear with 100m to go powering to the finish line winning the gold in 5:00.26 with Zoe winning Sliver in 5:13.52.
Michella Obijiaku won a bronze in the U17W shot with a throw of 10.77m. Rushane Thomas also won a bronze in the U20M 60m Hurdles in a time of 8.02s having run 8.12 in the qualifying heats. Phillip Thomas U17M triple jump managed a bronze Medal with a new personal best of 12.64m. U15G Natasha Alfred progressed through the heats in 8.18s and 8.12 and may have just clinched bronze in the finals.
