This annual Festival celebrates the rich cultural and creative life Streatham is fortunate to enjoy. One thing is certain about the 12 December’s General Election; Streatham will be getting a new MP, so we’ve been meeting the main Party Parliamentary Candidates to find out a bit more about them on a personal level.  Bell Ribeiro-Addy. Labour Streatham resident Bell grew up in a council house in Brixton in an extended Ghanaian family. Her mother ran a nursery and education was a top priority. Launched in 2008, The Phoenix Book Award is a literary prize judged by children from Years 6, 7 & 8 in Lambeth. For the second year Streatham & Clapham High School hosted the awards in May, giving pupils from ten Lambeth schools the opportunity to quiz, review and vote for their favourite authors. As well as Streatham and Clapham High Schools senior and junior departments, participating Streatham schools this year included Bishop Thomas Grant and Dunraven.  The Awards help keep Lambeth pupils reading during transition years (Y5 to Y8) when they may stop.
